Time to set right the direction of life

I found myself to be a confused soul for a long time. What next and why? Whenever I asked this question to me I got totally puzzled and lost direction several times. I checked it with many other friends and 99% of them are confused about the answer.

Whenever we dont have answer for this question, we either end up in being satisfied by our current jobs or move the next job without any big difference (may be just for few more bucks). Ultimately when we look back our contribution to the growth of society or knowledge, we dont add anything more than two or three educated persons on this earth (children). Is it really a contribution, yeah of course that is debatable :)

I m working for samsung electronics for around 2 years now. Working in its head quarters, with a good pay and a descent accommodation in a peaceful country. I thank god for this and rather dont need to think about what next, if i continue with this job.

As I was seriously thinking about a move to academics after working for sometime in Hi-Tech industry, I asked myself why do I move somewhere and how it is going to help for my ultimate goals in life. Now comes the question what is ultimate goal in life? There could be 100s of answers and every answer look very important and correct.

I asked this question to my family members and they answer it in their own way
mom says "I want live life a muslim and avoid mistakes as much as possible"
younger siblings say, want to travel accross the world you me, want own an Audi or want to be a teacher..etc.
Few years back I answer this question as " I want to be a millionaire", and now as I grown and good business strategies in mind I answer it as "Want to contribute and influence an area of knowledge and want to make huge money".

As I see myself good at strategy and think that i can give a positive contribution to the area of business strategy and also make good money. Does an opportunity of being faculty at a good university with a good pay will help me to reach my goals in life or I need to make optimum choice of waiting to an admission to a good business school.

After giving a thought to this situation I planned few immediate events in life and pray Allah SWT to help me with this.

2010: Marriage , & GMAT
I pray that my lovely wife can understand me and help me to pursue my goals in life, take care of my family and support me for a greater cause.
2011: Get ready for Studies again and make Blog a professional success.
2013: Studies and research, an autobiography, hope my wife support me for this.
2015: Several research papers and books in the area of Business strategy.
2016: Move to middle east for a long time and continue research and start management consultancy
2020: Start a media company for generating a great inspirational content for the generations.

I make this plan with more sense of contribution but also make good money for family and living, Inshallah.

May Allah help me with all these and make is really easy for me.

My encounter with coffee

After dinner my friends asked me for coffee though one of them forgot his wallet, we went out to have coffee. We were there and we ordered two coffee Mocha ice without cream and a coffee Latte ice. The only girl in the shop, made and served us coffee and moved immediately with the next order. It was closing time with ample customers at 7 PM. In Korea we take dinner at 6.00PM and coffee shop is open till 7.00PM.

The coffee shop is in digital part and we usually grab a coffee and go for a walk around the park. Took a sip of coffee as we started to walk in the part. I was very comfortable with Latte without sugar, but the other two complained about its bitterness. They went back to add some sugar to it. One them asked me if I needed sugar. I denied.(I liked its bitterness ;)

As they moved on for sugar I started thinking about my initial days in Korea. My first time to go to a coffee shop in Korea (with a HR girl who used to be with foreign employees). She asked which coffee I would like to order. In India I never liked coffee and never knew that it has so many flavors. When she asked for my choice, I didn't know what to order. I knew only two coffees in India, one is Coffee and other is cappuccino.

As I never liked Cappuccino,I asked her to order coffee. She asked me which coffee would I like, I never knew answer for that. To avoid embarrassment, politely I asked her which coffee would she like. She told that she is ordering for Ice Americano, I immediately told I also will go with Americano. After we received order, I got chance to see liquid sugar for the first time.I just added as she added it. After that she waited for an hour for me to finish it, but I could not because of its bitterness and strange taste. ( I used to take milk tea with sugar in India, which is very sweet). After an hour of struggle I asked her that if I can throw the rest of the coffee. I was thinking how people are made to spend $5 for something like this.

Now it is around little over a year, I was saying that Latte without sugar is great. During this time I tasted many flavors of Latte, Mocha, Americano, Cappuccino and Esspresso from almost every branded shop like Starbucks, Coffee & Beans, Coffee Cofea, Toms & Toms and Dunkin Donuts. Also tried some traditional coffee makers in Suwon.

The lesson was one is a great teacher and you learn lots of things unknowingly. Culture of people around will have definite impact on ones habits. The more important thing is not to be addicted to anything and keep a watch on oneself. Make sure that they are not hurting your basic faith and principle.

I am not a big fan of either coffee or tea, but take them with friends, as I feel that is one among the Halal drinks I can enjoy with my friends in Korea. In drinks I like anything which is more liquid and close to water. Therefore, I choose Americano or Espresso without sugar or any tea without sugar and milk.

If I m asked to vote between coffee and tea (without milk and sugar) I vote for TEA.

Do read my next post on green tea , my experience with Tea in Korea.

We have been great friends since then. We both hail from same place, and met through a common friend during graduation and lucky to spend excellent days at IIT Roorkee. Highly talent yet simple man, I ever met. A good listener and supporter all the time. Thanks G1 for the support again :)

My prepration sucks :(

My last post was in 28 Dec 2008. It was the day when i decided to start preparing for GMAT seriously. But I never started so seriously. Went home for two weeks in Jan 09 and after coming back struck with huge office issues.

Finally The Almighty God shown mercy on me and company started felxible timing at work ( I got lucky again). Since last week started using morning 1.30 to 2 hrs time at library and happy to see the progress. I hope this will go great :)

Unfortunately I did not take any practice test, as I am really worried that this will hurt my enthusiasm to go ahead. I decided to go through the material once and take the first prep. test. I think I will take my first prep. test this weekend for sure :)

I m an average student since my school days but did really good in Masters and PhD. I want to have really great score to go to top 10 business schools.

I think need to be:

1. More sincere
2. Honest for my preparation
3. Consistent
4. Determinant
